Today (23), NAND Flash control IC manufacturer Phison issued a price increase notice to its customers.
Phison mentioned that it will increase the prices of its entire series of flash memory control chips and modules from today. The price increases will be different for each product line, but the price increases will be higher for power management chips or other products using 8-inch wafer fab processes. The price increases for other flash memory control IC products will be adjusted based on the production capacity of each product; the price increases for flash memory module products will be gradually adjusted based on market changes and supply and demand.
In addition, Phison stated in the price increase notice that all new orders that take effect today will be based on the new price; as for all orders that have been received but not yet delivered before this, the price increase will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
The price increase is mainly due to the recent strong demand in the overall semiconductor supply chain, which has caused a shortage of various raw materials and rising prices. The upstream and downstream supply chains, including wafer fabs and packaging and testing plants, are fully loaded and continue to cancel discounts or increase prices.
Phison pointed out that the demand for various types of control chips far exceeded expectations, and the company continued to increase investment in the research and development of advanced control chips to meet the new technology needs of global partners and customers. After careful consideration of the overall operating conditions and to ensure long-term stable supply to meet the needs of partners and customers, it decided to adjust product prices according to the supply and demand conditions of each product line.
Phison pointed out that there seems to be no easing trend in the price increase of the semiconductor supply chain this year, including the foundry prices of 8-inch and 12-inch wafers, IC substrate and IC packaging foundry prices, DRAM/SDRAM prices, PCB and Connector MLCC, etc.
