According to Huanghe News, Shanxi Province plans to build 15,000 5G base stations by the end of 2020. As of the end of September, Shanxi Province has invested 4 billion yuan in 5G construction and put 14,220 5G base stations into operation, completing 94.8% of the annual target.
It is reported that the three major operators have achieved basic 5G coverage in the central urban areas of prefecture-level cities in Shanxi Province, and are extending it to counties.
In 2019, Shanxi Province issued the "Implementation Opinions and Several Measures on Accelerating the Development of the 5G Industry" (hereinafter referred to as the "Measures"). By the end of 2022, 5G network coverage will be achieved in urban areas of major cities (including county towns) in Shanxi Province, the total number of 5G base stations in Shanxi Province will reach 50,000, and there will be more than 30 5G demonstration application scenarios.
In terms of 5G site selection, the Measures propose that in March each year, each city should publish a list of public resources, including the disclosure of green spaces, roads, towers, lamp poles and other resources of some government agencies and institutions.
In terms of electricity consumption costs, telecom operators' 5G base stations can participate in market transactions with full electricity consumption, and subsidies will be given for electricity prices that exceed the target price of 0.35 yuan/kWh.
In terms of industry applications, Shanxi has actively encouraged the application of 5G in various industries and introduced a number of support measures for 5G construction and application by using provincial technical transformation funds to provide 30% support.
