Additionally, SiFive said its existing investors, including venture capital arms from Intel, Qualcomm and Western Digital, also joined the round.

It is reported that SiFive is currently working to sell semiconductor designs based on the RISC-V architecture, which is an open source code for manufacturing computing chips. Its basic architecture is free to use. But SiFive puts the architecture into a design that can be more easily manufactured by semiconductor factories and adds some of its own technology to design processor chips that are more useful than using the free architecture alone.

According to reports, SiFive is a leader in commercial processor core IP, development tools and chip solutions based on the RISC-V instruction set architecture. It is also the first company to do business based on the RISC-V architecture and a company that inherits the RISC-V "bloodline" in its original form. It was founded by RISC-V creator Krste Asanovic, Yunsup Lee and Andrew Waterman.

SiFive's RISC-V architecture processors have more than 100 licenses, and six of the world's top 10 semiconductor companies are its customers, including Qualcomm and SK Hynix. SiFive's chips have been used in commercial products, such as Huami Technology's smartwatches and a storage device under the Korean startup Fadu.

In order to expand the Chinese market, SiFive also established an independent company in China - SiFive China (Shanghai Saifang Technology Co., Ltd.), which operates independently in China and is not a subsidiary of SiFive.
