On April 29, the Seoul Economic Daily quoted industry insiders as saying that in addition to the recently announced M15X plan, SK Hynix is also considering building a new memory factory and is open to building factories in South Korea, the United States or other regions.

The company is reportedly considering building a plant because the Yongin chip cluster under construction has been delayed in its production, and demand for memory chips is expected to grow significantly this year. "We understand that they are open to the possibility of building a new base not only in South Korea, but also in the United States and even other regions," said a senior semiconductor industry official who requested anonymity.
On the 24th local time, SK Hynix announced the installation of new DRAM facilities at the M15X plant in Cheongju, South Korea. SK Hynix has invested 20 trillion won (IT Home Note: Currently about 105.4 billion yuan) in this plant alone, with the goal of starting the production line in November next year.
It is reported that the M15X factory will be equipped with the latest semiconductor equipment, including an extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography machine, for the production of 10-nanometer fifth-generation D-RAM and more advanced products. If SK hynix confirms the additional investment, it will be another major investment after the Yongin cluster, the Indiana Advanced Packaging Plant in the United States, and M15X.
According to a previous report by IT Home, SK Hynix CEO Guo Luzheng once said: "M15X will become a core facility for providing AI application memory to the world, and it is also a stepping stone for the company to move towards the future. I am sure that this investment will not only help the company, but also contribute to the future development of the national economy."
