At the 8th Annual Conference of China Satellite Navigation and Positioning Services and China Beidou Application Conference, Yang Changfeng, chief designer of the Beidou Satellite Navigation System, pointed out that the construction of the Beidou project is progressing smoothly. This year, 5 to 7 Beidou satellites will be launched, and 2 to 4 Beidou satellites will be launched next year. The construction of the Beidou global system will be fully completed in 2020. my country's navigation, positioning and timing system will be based on the Beidou system. In terms of the integration of new technologies, Beidou will be deeply integrated with the Internet, the Internet of Things, 5G, and big data.
According to Guangming Daily, the total output value of my country's satellite navigation and location services industry reached 301.6 billion yuan in 2018, of which Beidou contributed 80% to the core output value of the industry. The associated output value generated by satellite navigation reached 194.7 billion yuan. There are about 10,000 enterprises and institutions related to satellite navigation and location services in my country, with about 500,000 employees.
At present, the application of the Beidou system has become an economic growth point for strategic emerging industries. Taking the launch of Beidou's global services and the upcoming full construction of the Beidou-3 system as an opportunity, my country will continue to promote the integrated and innovative applications of the Beidou satellite navigation system. Beidou will also usher in a golden period of deepening its application. According to the current growth rate, it is estimated that by 2020, the scale of my country's satellite navigation industry will exceed 400 billion yuan.
According to Yu Xiancheng, president of the China Satellite Navigation and Positioning Association, with the provision of services by the Beidou ground-based augmentation system, it can provide meter-level, sub-meter-level, decimeter-level, and even centimeter-level services. The positioning accuracy of the Beidou navigation system will be comparable to that of the US GPS.
