Native API traffic analysis interface will further help ensure API security by connecting to Akamai Connected Cloud
October 17, 2024 – Akamai Technologies, Inc. (Akamai), a cloud service provider responsible for supporting and protecting online life, recently launched a new native API traffic analysis interface to connect Akamai API Security and Akamai Connected Cloud. This integration enables customers to send a copy of Akamai Connected Cloud traffic directly to API Security for analysis and rapid attack prevention, thereby simplifying and accelerating API discovery and protection.
“In today’s fast-paced digital environment, APIs are critical to driving business innovation and growth. However, if they are not properly protected, they can also present significant risks to the enterprise,” said Repesh Chokshi, senior vice president and general manager , Application Security, Akamai. “To this end, we are launching a new native interface that provides customers with a simple and effective way to gain visibility into API traffic and prevent attacks, without compromising performance or adding additional costs.”
While applications are ubiquitous and often overlooked, they rely on APIs to connect. As APIs become more important, businesses need to be well prepared to keep up with the pace of digital transformation while ensuring security.
This native interface provides enterprises with a simple solution to discover and protect APIs, while providing customers with several important benefits:
●Achieve faster return on investment through rapid, zero-touch deployment
● No implementation, maintenance fees, network costs or other long-term costs, resulting in lower total cost of ownership
● Rapid response to attacks with direct blocking capabilities at the Akamai edge
A key advantage of API Security is its vendor-neutral approach, allowing it to integrate with over 40 traffic sources. This includes cloud environments, API gateways, web application firewalls, and more. This gives enterprises the flexibility to continue using their preferred technologies and tools while benefiting from advanced API security capabilities. With the ability to integrate with a variety of traffic sources, Akamai API Security protects APIs from evolving cyber threats by providing a comprehensive and reliable solution.
The interface was officially launched on October 1, 2024. Currently, the native interface has been used by more than 100 Akamai customers, analyzing more than 300,000 APIs, which generate more than 500 billion requests per month.
