Recently, Intel announced that it has begun using extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUV) technology for high-volume mass production (HVM) of the Intel 4 process node. The realization of large-scale mass production of Intel 4 as scheduled once again proves that Intel is promoting the "Five Process Nodes in Four Years" plan with strong execution capabilities and applying it to a new generation of leading products to meet the "core economy" driven by AI. Exponentially increasing computing power requirements.
As Intel's first process node produced using extreme ultraviolet lithography technology, Intel 4 has achieved significant improvements in performance, energy efficiency and transistor density compared with previous nodes. Extreme ultraviolet lithography technology is driving applications with the highest computing power requirements, such as AI, advanced mobile networks, autonomous driving, and new data centers and cloud applications. In addition, extreme ultraviolet lithography technology also plays a key role for Intel to successfully realize its "five process nodes in four years" plan and regain process leadership in 2025.
Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said: "I am proud of the Intel team, along with our customers, suppliers and partners, as we work together to make high-volume production of the Intel 4 process node a reality and regain process leadership. Steady progress on the road to sex.”
Intel’s “Five Process Nodes in Four Years” plan is progressing smoothly. Currently, Intel 7 and Intel 4 have achieved large-scale mass production; Intel 3 is advancing as planned, with a target of the end of 2023; Intel 20A and Intel 18A, which use RibbonFET full surround gate transistor and PowerVia back power supply technology, are also progressing smoothly, with a target of 2024. Intel will soon launch the Intel 18A Process Design Kit (PDK) for Intel Foundry Services (IFS) customers.
Intel's various product roadmaps also continue to advance as planned: the Intel® Core™ Ultra processor using the Intel 4 process node, product code-named Meteor Lake, will be released on December 14 this year, paving the way for the AI PC era. ; Using Intel 3 process nodes, the energy-efficient E-core Xeon processor Sierra Forest will be launched in the first half of 2024, and the high-performance performance core (P-core) Xeon processor Granite Rapids will also be available Will be launched soon after.
Chips have formed an industry worth US$574 billion. Against this background, Intel proposed the concept of "Siliconomy", which is "a growing economic form driven by chips and software . " Intel pointed out that AI is an important driving force of the "core economy" and its vigorous development begins with the innovation of chip technology. Under the banner of Moore's Law, Intel will continue to explore underlying technological innovations in manufacturing processes, packaging and other fields, promote the continuous growth of computing power, and help customers and developers seize the huge social and business opportunities in the "core economy" era.
