Picocci’s PC802 SoC and 5G NR software selected by Contela as core components for its distributed unit and radio frequency unit
Beijing, China, August 9, 2023 - Picocom, a provider of 5G open RAN baseband chips and carrier-grade software, today announced that Contela, a wireless communication equipment developer and manufacturer, will be the first to launch 5G open RAN distributed The unit (O-DU) and radio frequency unit (O-RU) products use Picocci’s 5G NR/LTE baseband chip PC802 and supporting physical layer (PHY) software. By leveraging the power, flexibility and scalability of Picocci's open RAN portfolio, Contela is committed to delivering advanced wireless networking products to meet the evolving needs of its customers.

Picocci PC802 baseband system-on-chip and mature physical layer software have been delivered to customers for mass production and are widely used in distributed units (O-DU), radio frequency units and integrated small base station products. PC802 can run the physical layer processing of 4G LTE and 5G NR, and can also support both physical layer processing on the same chip.
