According to Xinhua News Agency, at the 2021 National Industrial and Information Technology Work Conference held by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on December 28, Minister of Industry and Information Technology Xiao Yaqing stated that in 2021, the construction and application of 5G networks will be promoted in an orderly manner, 5G coverage in major cities will be accelerated, joint construction and sharing will be promoted, and more than 600,000 new 5G base stations will be built.
In addition, Xiao Yaqing said that 5G construction should be used as a driving force to coordinate the deployment of data centers and computing facilities. At the same time, 10 key industries should be focused on, 20 typical industrial application scenarios should be formed, industrial 5G private network pilots should be carried out, and 5G millimeter wave frequency planning for some frequency bands should be released in due course.
At a press conference held by the State Council Information Office earlier, Wen Ku, Director of the Information and Communications Development Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that my country will add approximately 580,000 new 5G base stations in 2020, and promote the joint construction and sharing of 330,000 5G base stations. The goal of 5G coverage in all cities and counties set at the beginning of the year has been achieved.
