The 5G craze continues unabated, and the number of domestic users has officially exceeded 100 million

According to the operator data report for June 2020 released by C114 Communications Network, the number of 5G users of the three major domestic operators has officially exceeded 100 million. The current cumulative number of 5G users of the three major operators is: China Mobile 70.199 million, China Telecom 37.84 million, and China Unicom has not announced the number of 5G users.   

Data released by C114 Communications Network showed that China Mobile lost 240,000 mobile customers in June, bringing the total number of users to 946.739 million. The number of 4G customers increased by 2.184 million, reaching a total of 759.718 million. The number of wired broadband customers increased by 1.921 million, reaching a total of 197.116 million.

In June, China Telecom's mobile users increased by 2.27 million, with a total of 343.47 million mobile users. In the same month, China Telecom's wired broadband users increased by 790,000, with a total of 154.14 million wired broadband users.

China Unicom's mobile account users increased by 783,000 in June, reaching a total of 309.5 million; the number of mobile account users decreased by 8.947 million this year. Among them, the net increase of 4G users in the month was 2.503 million, reaching a total of 261 million, and the net increase of 4G users this year was 6.975 million. The net increase of fixed-line broadband users in the month was 335,000, reaching a total of 85.878 million. The net increase of fixed-line broadband users this year was 2.400 million.

According to the data released in the first half of the year, the growth of mobile users of China Mobile and China Unicom has been difficult to compete with that of China Telecom, especially last month, the number of mobile users of China Mobile turned negative. It is worth noting that from November last year to now, the number portability policy has been implemented for more than half a year. According to the data released at the beginning of this year, only China Telecom has a positive net number of number portability, while China Mobile and China Unicom have different degrees of user loss.

Due to the issue of tariffs, the growth of 5G users is still relatively slow, and we can still see that there is still a large proportion of new 4G users. Now that 5G tariffs have been loosened, we hope that they can be reduced quickly so that more users will choose 5G.
