At the China Mobile 5G Ecosystem Partner Conference, China Mobile announced the current progress of 5G construction.
As of now, China Mobile has built 124,000 5G base stations, covering 56 cities, and has developed more than 50 million 5G package customers, making it the world's telecommunications operator with the widest 5G network coverage and the largest number of 5G customers.
Regarding the 5G development plan for 2020, China Mobile stated that in terms of network construction, in 2020, China Mobile will achieve 5G network coverage in urban areas above the prefecture level nationwide, with a net increase of 70 million 5G package customers; strive to promote the nationwide commercial use of 5G SA and realize 5G distinctive capabilities; plan to collaborate with industry chain partners to develop 5G package users to exceed 100 million, drive the industry to achieve sales of 100 million 5G terminals, create 100 group-level application demonstrations, and 10,000 provincial regional distinctive projects; gather 14 vertical industries to create 100 5G demonstration applications with industry influence and replicability.
At the same time, China Mobile has also released a number of cooperation strategies in terms of terminals, rights, products, XR, WiFi6, etc. In terms of 5G terminal cooperation, China Mobile has worked with partners to produce the 20th anniversary commemorative edition 5G mobile phone, launched exclusive packages, cards, packages, provided special marketing service resources, shared the big data capabilities of customers who replaced their phones, and promoted the construction of the industry's largest pan-terminal direct sales system.
