On the evening of June 15, Intel officially announced a major upgrade of the Core brand, which mainly involves three major aspects, including: brand name and new visual identity, generational name position, and model hierarchical naming method. The most eye-catching thing is its naming method for new products-Intel Core Ultra.
Intel Core Ultra
For those who pay attention to computers, the naming method of the XXth generation Intel Core i3/i5/i7/i9 has become deeply rooted in the hearts of the people after more than ten years of iterative development. However, perhaps seeing that AMD next door has a lot of tricks in naming this year's new CPU, Intel also decided to reclassify its products. In addition, the new 14th generation processors have major upgrades in performance and architecture. In order to better distinguish the differences, Intel decided to introduce a new naming method.
According to Intel, Intel will still use the classic "14th generation i7" naming method in the Raptor Lake-HX series for gaming laptops and the Raptor Lake-S series for desktops. But other than that, the "H, P, and U" will disappear and be replaced by two new names, namely "Intel Core Ultra" and "Intel Core". Intel Core Ultra is built using the new "Meteor Lake" architecture, and Ultra also reflects its super performance.
Newly launched Intel Core Ultra series
The new Intel Core Ultra series is mainly divided into three levels: Ultra 5, Ultra 7, and Ultra 9, and the algebra is recalculated. The new product launched this time is the first generation. Therefore, its official name should be called Intel Core Ultra 1st generation processor or Intel Core Ultra processor (1st generation). It has nothing to do with the Core i series, but it still retains the standard pressure (H) series and There are two suffixes for low voltage (U) series. According to reports, in addition to using the latest architecture, the Ultra series' graphics memory performance has also been greatly improved. "ARC graphics cards" will be included in "Intel Core Ultra" processors as standard configuration of the standard pressure H series. The low-voltage U series will be distinguished by the ordinary "Intel Graphic" logo.
Intel Core Series
The emergence of the Core Ultra series does not mean the disappearance of the Core i series. It is still retained, mainly used for the naming method of the Rapter Lake-HS/S version, and is consistent with the current 13th generation naming method. However, its official name will weaken the generation number, changing from "Intel Core 14th Generation Processor" to "Intel Core Processor (14th Generation)".
The naming method of the refresh version of the Raptor Lake-U series has also changed. It will be named directly after "Intel Core". There are three specifications: Intel Core 3, Intel Core 5 and Intel Core 7. The new naming format is called "Intel Core". Intel Core 3/5/7 first generation".

Finally, Intel said that the Evo certification logo will no longer be bound to the processor logo, but will appear as a separate logo, which will help users better understand the Intel evo platform certification.
