On November 12, according to data provided by Bank of America in a new investment report, Intel is plagued by more and more unfavorable factors and its market share is increasingly losing to its rival AMD in the microchip field.

The report lists CPU trends for the third quarter of 2024, with Intel's PC shipments falling by about 3% quarter-on-quarter, while AMD's market share increased by 15% quarter-on-quarter.

On the server side, Bank of America found that AMD's third-quarter shipments grew 7% quarter-over-quarter and 10% year-over-year. Prior to this, AMD had two consecutive quarters of relatively weak shipments due to "CPU inventory normalization."

While AMD's server ASPs were "flat quarter-over-quarter," BofA expects them to rise in the fourth quarter and into 2025 as the company ramps up production of new products with higher core counts.

"We believe AMD's share will continue to grow, reaching approximately 27% share of total CPU revenue by FY26, compared to our previous expectation of 25% and just 19% in FY23."

So the question is, when you buy a CPU now, do you choose AMD or Intel?
