Bai Hongxing, Vice President of Kailes Technology and Dean of the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, Xu Yiping, Vice President of Kailes Technology, and Shen Fei, Product Director of Kailes Technology, participated in the conference.

Smart “transformation”


At the beginning of the meeting, President Bai Hongxing shared in detail with the guests in the [Gaogong Live Room] about the intelligent transformation of logistics equipment and the industry trend of intelligent logistics .

Bai Hongxing was the first to point out that despite the not-so-good overall environment, Kailes Technology has still achieved rapid growth, with annual orders exceeding 1.5 billion in 2021 and an expected year-on-year growth of more than 30% in 2022 .

It is understood that the rapid development of Kailes Technology is backed by the comprehensive technical support provided by the Kailes Intelligent Research Institute . In 2019, the Kailes Technology Intelligent Research Institute was established. In the same year, the Computational Intelligence Department was established based on the original algorithm team to provide the group with all-round computing intelligence support.

In 2019, the Kailes Intelligent Research Institute noticed that visual intelligence applications were becoming more and more widespread, and established a new visual intelligence department , recruiting a team of masters and doctoral talents in many fields including image processing and deep learning. After the establishment of the visual intelligence department, the first thing to do was to solve the problem of 3D visual palletizing and depalletizing. Using 2D+3D to cut the pallet shape, it can effectively identify and depalletize efficiently, and the visual intelligence department has also developed corresponding visual software.

In addition, through mergers and acquisitions, the Kailes Technology Intelligent Research Institute absorbed a research and development team focusing on QR code AGVs . Through collaboration with the Algorithm Intelligence Department and the Visual Intelligence Department, the Kailes Technology Intelligent Research Institute began to explore AMR.

Bai Hongxing summarized: "So far, the Kailesi Technology Intelligent Research Institute has more than 50 people, covering the underlying technologies required for the research and development of the entire group, including the underlying simulation of hardware, scheduling algorithms in software, 3D visual image analysis, and a series of AMR technologies. It has laid out many cutting-edge technologies and can provide comprehensive technical support."

Specifically, relying on the technical support of the Kailes Technology Intelligent Research Institute, Kailes Technology has launched a series of advanced new AMR products.

Especially in 2022, Kailes launched the "PTR side-fork mobile robot product (Niu Mowang)" , which not only greatly improved space utilization and operating efficiency, but also met customers' pursuit of cost-effectiveness. Aiming at the "pain point" of pallet storage and retrieval of more than 100kg in floor warehouses, it uses a side-fork fork-picking method, which can not only cope with the flat handling of pallets and solve the problem of pallet storage and retrieval on floor shelves, but also requires only 1.65 meters in aisle width, and the efficiency and positioning accuracy reach ±5mm level, which is more advantageous than traditional unmanned forklifts.

In addition, Bai Hongxing made a detailed analysis of the development of AGV and AMR at the meeting. In Bai Hongxing's view, traditional AGV has ushered in a peak of growth with Amazon's acquisition of KIVA, but AGV still has three major limitations .

First of all , the delivery cost is high . Each AGV project has personalized requirements, which requires enterprises to do a lot of secondary development work at the beginning of design and development;

Secondly, large-scale scheduling is difficult . Large-scale scheduling of AGVs is performed through RCS, which requires considering conflicts between paths and consumes a lot of computing power. When the number of AGVs to be scheduled is large, it is often necessary to use functional area division and other methods for scheduling, which is often not the optimal scheduling method and will have a certain impact on efficiency.

Finally , human-machine interaction . Traditional AGVs are not very intelligent. When running along a predetermined trajectory in an unmanned place, the possibility of malfunction and problems is low. However, when it comes to human-machine collaboration, many safety facilities such as railings and fences need to be deployed, which is troublesome to deploy and has limited effect.

Bai Hongxing further said that the three major limitations of traditional AGVs happen to be the advantages of AMR. AMR is an autonomous mobile robot with lower delivery costs. It can be planned uniformly through RCS and has good stand-alone intelligence. The intelligence level is greatly improved, and large-scale scheduling is easier. In addition, human-computer interaction is a natural advantage of AMR .

Finally, Bai Hongxing made a detailed analysis of Kailes' core competitiveness. He believed that Kailes Technology has one-stop service capabilities. In actual cases, customers do not simply buy equipment and software but need the ability to ultimately run . The one-stop service capability solution provided by Kailes Technology covers four major aspects: planning and design, hardware design, software system, and delivery management, which can meet the application needs of more scenarios.

At the same time, Kailes Technology is also ensuring rapid deployment, efficiency, and cost through the application of advanced technologies, reducing the failure rate of each AMR . For example, in terms of map construction, at present, most AMR map construction is still done by people pushing carts to patrol the field, but Kailes allows AMR to be deployed automatically, automatically run maps, and run multiple maps at the same time to finally merge the maps ; in terms of delivery management, Kailes Technology pays full attention to on-site surveys, verifies map construction many times, and tests the debugging function many times. It also provides sufficient training for customers to help customers form a full understanding of the operation and maintenance level to avoid failures caused by human factors.

A comprehensive analysis of PTR "Bull Demon King"


Afterwards, Xu Yiping, vice president of Kailes Technology, focused on explaining Kailes’ latest developed PTR side-fork mobile robot product (Bull Demon King) at the meeting.

Specifically, the PTR side fork robot has six major advantages: "narrow", "sensitive", "intelligent", "connection", "safety" and "long lasting".

Narrow : Traditional forklifts often require an average width of about 2.2m to pick up pallets, while PTR side-fork robot products allow for narrower aisle design, requiring only 1.7m, which can achieve higher density storage while maintaining the same floor space;

Min : PTR is a side fork design. Compared with traditional forklifts, it has one less parking space during operation and can directly reach the corresponding cargo space. It only takes 1.5 seconds to locate, which is 80% more efficient than traditional forklifts and can achieve higher handling efficiency.

Smart : PTR uses laser radar to scan the pallet posture, intelligently judges the angle of the pallet fork hole, and automatically corrects the pallet fork to complete the pallet fork picking, and is suitable for pallet fork picking at different angles;

Connection : The fork arm pick-up mode allows the PTR to directly connect to the ground pallet, and can also lift and connect to various docking ports, as well as lift and connect to the beam shelf;

Safety : The PTR series products take into account the complexity of scene safety in all aspects, refer to the ISO3691-4 international standard safety design, and add multiple types of sensors to ensure safer equipment operation;

Long-lasting : PTR uses a 75Ah battery, which has a battery capacity three times that of ordinary AMR. Combined with the scheduling system, it is suitable for various charging strategies such as manual charging, manual battery replacement, and automatic charging. At the same time, the charging pile can be used with other AMR products of Kailes Technology, ultimately having a larger power capacity for longer battery life.
