Extend upward and wait for an opportunity

As the machine vision track continues to be hot, some integrators have also become eager to move upstream and start to develop visual devices independently. Zhou Hongpu said that this phenomenon is not surprising. He frankly said that whether a company goes up or down depends on two points:

First, the genes. That is, what does the company want to do when it is first established? What are its advantages?
Second, timing. Timing is actually very important. Why are there so many downstream companies starting to make hardware now? Because they have reached a new stage of development. If they want to further improve their competitiveness, they must master some core technologies to avoid being "stuck in the neck". So we must do the right thing at the right time.

3D vision + industrial robots = the future?

According to data from Gaogong Robot Industry Research Institute (GGII), the number of 3D vision + industrial robots applied in China in 2021 was 7,100 sets, which were basically dominated by domestic manufacturers, with a penetration rate of 2.72% in industrial robots. It is expected to reach 10% in the next three years. With such growth momentum, will "3D vision + industrial robots" become the mainstream trend in the future? As the machine vision company with the largest shipment volume in the Chinese 3D vision + industrial robot market in 2021, Mecha-Mind CEO Shao Tianlan also has his own unique judgment.

Shao Tianlan believes that as the technology matures and the industrial chain develops, 3D vision will become a common equipment for industrial robots, and a group of integrators who master this technology will also open the door to further development. Because the use of 3D vision allows robots to handle materials with uncertain positions, it can greatly reduce non-standard mechanical design, thereby reducing costs, improving flexibility, shortening project cycles, and allowing integrators to provide more competitive solutions to customers.

Nong Keke also affirmed: "I personally believe that the subsequent development space and potential of 3D vision is very high. However, 3D vision is a brand-new technology after all, so we still need to find and discover more scenarios, including many traditional sub-sectors, which are worth exploring again."

For machine vision companies, with the advent of the algorithm-driven era and the trend of software and hardware integration, process algorithms will be the main competitive barrier, among which industry cases are the stepping stone and process accumulation is the only way. At present, China's visual applications are still in the early stages of development, especially in the field of 3D vision. The market has not yet shown a clear oligopoly pattern, and the industry is showing a flourishing development trend. This has also laid an excellent foreshadowing for a number of machine vision companies to compete in the Central Plains.
