OLYMPUS Stream image analysis software now uses the power of artificial intelligence to introduce next-generation image segmentation technology to industrial microscope inspection. Version 2.5 of this software adds Olympus's TruAI deep learning technology, which allows users to train neural networks for automatic image segmentation and object classification in microscopic images to complete a series of material inspections. The trained network can be applied to the analysis of similar applications in the future to greatly improve work efficiency.
Accurate Image Segmentation
Image analysis is a critical part of many material science, industrial, and quality assurance applications. However, using traditional thresholding methods that rely on HSV or RGB color space for image segmentation may miss key information or targets in the sample. Olympus' TruAI technology provides more accurate segmentation based on deep learning, completing analysis with high reproducibility and stability.
With the TruAI solution, users can easily train powerful neural
networks. The user-friendly interface allows users to efficiently label images and run training in batches. Networks can be configured with many input channels, trained to recognize up to 16 categories, and imported or exported. The solution also provides the option to review and edit training details.
Image caption: Phase analysis of composite materials is a typical industrial image analysis application using deep learning. After OLYMPUS Stream software version 2.5 uses deep learning technology to perform image segmentation, different phases can be accurately distinguished and detected. Combined with the measurement solution in the software, users can easily obtain repeatable quantitative results. Left: Original image of etched copper. Customized User Workflows
The software update also makes Olympus’ workflow customization service available to all users. Olympus has designed OLYMPUS Stream workflows that can be tailored to solve user-specific application problems and challenges, helping users achieve their individual goals.
Updating to Version 2.5 of the OLYMPUS Stream Software
Customers who own OLYMPUS Stream Version 2.4 can update the software to Version 2.5 free of charge using their existing licenses.
