5.2 PCU height design is lower, which enhances adaptability

5.2.1 The new hybrid system adopts a parallel axis design. The center distance of the drive motor is increased by 22.9mm compared with the original coaxial design. In order to reduce the system height, the PCU installation height is optimized and reduced;

5.2.2 The height of the PCU after installation is optimized and reduced by 16.2 mm, as shown in Figure 7-12.

8. Conclusion

Based on the above new generation of Honda hybrid technology, the new generation of Honda hybrid is summarized as follows.

1. The use of two gears enhances the system's power output and can flexibly adapt to the requirements of heavier vehicles;

2. The engine adopts two-speed output, which ensures that the engine speed and vehicle speed follow each other reasonably, and it is not easy to have the problem of sudden increase of engine speed, which improves the driving experience;

3. The engine is upgraded from PFI to GDI, with better power, torque and fuel consumption, and overall engine performance is improved;

4. The two-speed design can prevent the engine from running at very low speed, while avoiding excessive electrical losses under high load, reducing heat loss and improving overall efficiency;

5. The generator speed is increased, which makes the size smaller and meets the demand for greater power generation;

6. The speed and performance of the drive motor are improved simultaneously to achieve higher maximum power torque;

7. FDU performance is further improved, with the drive motor torque increased by 6% and the drive motor speed increased by 12%;

8. The IMMD hybrid system size adaptability is optimized to achieve a more perfect vehicle space layout.
