Near Field Communication (NFC) Transceiver Reference Design
[Copy link]
This Near Field Communication (NFC) reference design outlines the required components and layout considerations, and provides firmware examples to illustrate how to implement NFC into an application to extract NFC Data Exchange Format (NDEF) data from a transponder, implement a peer-to-peer (P2P) connection, or emulate an NFC transponder. NFC simplifies BluetoothTM and WiFi connectivity, enables interactive consumer displays, and standardizes data transmission formats. The accompanying documentation, hardware, and sample code allow designers to quickly implement NFC functionality using an MSP430 or other carefully selected MCU. This design is based on the TRF7970ATB design.
- Integrated PCB antenna
- U.FL connector allows customers to develop and connect antennas in their own designs
- Test points for SPI code development/debugging
- On-board +3VDC to +5VDC step-up converter allows evaluation at full power
- Used with NFCLink (complete NFC software suite) to read and write NFC transponders to demonstrate peer-to-peer (P2P) and card emulation (CE) modes
- Design is tested and includes firmware, GUI software, hardware design and user guide
