ETAS Fuzz Testing Software “ESCRYPT CycurFUZZ” Embedded in Keysight’s In-Vehicle Cybersecurity Test Platform
-
Solution enables automakers and suppliers to comply with international cybersecurity regulations
Keysight Technologies, Inc. and ETAS have teamed up to provide automakers and automotive suppliers with a comprehensive in-vehicle cybersecurity solution to keep cars safe when they hit the road. According to the agreement between the two parties, ETAS' ESCRYPT CycurFUZZ intelligent automotive fuzz testing tool will be integrated into Keysight's in-vehicle cybersecurity test platform.
Keysight Technologies and ETAS Collaborate to Advance In-Vehicle Cybersecurity
As automotive systems become increasingly connected, connected cars face increasing cybersecurity risks that must be eliminated to ensure the development of safe and reliable vehicles. As part of comprehensive and efficient security testing, fuzz testing is an automated testing method that reveals flaws and vulnerabilities by injecting invalid, malformed, or unexpected signals into a device.
By embedding ESCRYPT CycurFUZZ into Keysight's in-vehicle cybersecurity solutions, automakers can quickly perform fuzz testing on targets via the controller area network (CAN) interface. The CycurFUZZ tool can be fully integrated into the Keysight solution, providing an intelligent software for performing CAN bus fuzz testing at the module or system level. This provides an effective way to automatically scan the automotive CAN bus of the device under test, looking for unknown vulnerabilities and software defects. By integrating ESCRYPT CycurFUZZ, it can be ensured that cybersecurity risks related to the CAN bus are effectively removed.
Keysight's in-vehicle cybersecurity solution automatically tests all layers of the in-vehicle interface open system interconnection (OSI) stack, including Wi-Fi, cellular, Bluetooth, CAN, and automotive Ethernet, to verify the authenticity of electronic control units (ECUs) and telematics control units (TCUs) subassemblies or the entire vehicle. In addition, the solution enables automakers and suppliers to comply with international cybersecurity regulations such as UN R-155 and ISO/SAE 21434.
"Our agreement with Keysight is an example of how collaboration can enable automakers and their suppliers to continuously improve software quality and continually increase the cyber resilience of their products," said Eric Cesa, vice president of sales for North America and Brazil at ETAS .
"This type of future-proof testing is critical to reducing the risk of evolving automotive cyberattacks," said Thomas Goetzl, vice president and general manager of Keysight's Automotive and Energy Solutions group . "By collaborating with ETAS to incorporate this fast fuzz testing into our automotive cybersecurity solutions, we will help end users meet industry standards while enriching their threat databases."
