WiSA E innovative technology allows TVs to transmit multi-channel audio without HDMI cables
New embedded software provides TV manufacturers with a low-cost, feature-rich immersive audio solution
BEAVERTON, OR, USA — March 16, 2023 — WiSA Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of immersive wireless sound technology for smart devices and next-generation home entertainment systems, announced that it has developed and demonstrated its latest WiSA E technology, which is designed to enable the next generation of immersive audio products. Designed specifically for TVs, WiSA E provides high-quality multi-channel audio transmission to support up to 8 (or even 10) independent speaker units without the need for HDMI cables to connect to the soundbar.
"Consumers, as well as industry leaders and TV brands, have been asking for a fully wireless, multi-channel immersive audio solution," said Brett Moyer, CEO of WiSA Technologies . "While others are talking, WiSA is delivering on the promise of immersive audio technology without the need for cables. Our latest WiSA E eliminates the need for HDMI cables and enables TVs to support immersive audio without a soundbar by integrating the TV's internal speakers as the center channel."
By eliminating the need for duplicate parts between TVs and sound bars, consumers can expect to save hundreds of dollars while improving their audio experience. WiSA E offers consumers a complete set of options that are the most versatile in terms of cost, design and sonic characteristics, a complete solution that enables end-user TVs to interoperate with multiple brands of speakers/soundbars.
“Soundbars brought the first generation of affordable, high-quality multi-channel audio systems to the average consumer, but at the expense of yet another cable and another electronic device sitting in front of our beautiful HDTVs, ” added Brett Moyer. “So it was a temporary solution. The perfect solution would be to eliminate all wired connections and let the TV deliver and create a better immersive soundstage, rather than putting as many speakers as possible on one device.”
Currently, more and more content supports 5.1-channel immersive sound, and newer content will support 5.1.4-channel Dolby Atmos. These new trends have prevented soundbar products from creating the audio sound field that users expect, and consumers have been unable to experience these immersive audio formats. WiSA E solves this problem by providing high-quality wireless multi-channel audio to ordinary consumers.
