LEM introduces the HMSR DA, the first integrated current sensor on the market to offer a Sigma Delta bitstream output.
The device offers significant advantages for use in applications susceptible to noise, distortion and interference. The new product was developed to provide solutions for industries that require clear signals and face significant issues such as vibration, electrical noise and electromagnetic noise.
The specific advantages of an integrated current sensor with digital output include excellent signal sharing, lower noise and lower cost, as well as a smaller footprint. It will replace more complex and expensive alternative systems that traditionally include shunt resistors, digital isolation and power circuits. Including all of these functions in one unit makes the device more space- and cost-efficient.
Typical applications for digital output units include stand-alone servo drives, AGVs, robots, sewing machines, CNC machine tools and other applications that require high-resolution output. The new HMSR DA sensor offers 11 to 13 bits of resolution and provides a 10MHz clock, and is the first step in the company's roadmap to build digital integrated current sensors. The company is currently developing the next generation of digital integrated circuit sensors, which will provide 14 to 16 bits of resolution and clocks above 20MHz.
“Digitalization is the future, and we are proud that LEM is at the forefront of digital integrated current sensor technology. We know that current solutions on the market often face challenges such as noise, distortion and interference, which requires compact and low-cost alternatives,” said Bastien Musy, Vice President of Global Products at LEM. “Our developers have created an integrated current sensor that takes the industry to a whole new level, and they will continue to produce solutions that push boundaries and provide solutions in demanding applications that have traditionally been difficult to solve with competing products on the market.”
