TDA8551 typical application circuit

TDA8551(T) is an audio power amplifier integrated circuit produced by Philips. It can be used to form a lw BLT audio amplifier. Its circuit principle is shown in the figure. When the power supply is 5V, the load impedance is 8 ohms, and the output power is 1w, the harmonic distortion rate (THD) is 10%. The amplifier can be set to three
modes : (1) standby mode, the MODE level is 4.5--5V; (2) squelch mode, the MODE level is 1--3.6V; (3) normal mode. The MODE level is less than 0.5V. TDA8551 (T) has an internal overheat protection device. The volume control is attenuated in 64 levels. Each level attenuates 1.25dB, and its range is 0--dBo. The volume control of the TDA8551(T) audio amplifier has three levels: (1) floating level, its first foot is suspended. At this time, the volume remains unchanged; (2) DOWN level, the first foot of TDA8551(T) is grounded. Inputting negative pulses makes the volume decrease; (3) UP level, the first foot of TDA8551(T) is connected to +5V, and inputting positive pulses makes the volume increase.
The maximum quiescent current of this amplifier is 10mA
