50 years of enjoying the wind and rain! Mouser Electronics Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Service Milestone for Global President and CEO Glenn Smith

May 25, 2023 – Mouser Electronics, an industry-renowned New Product Introduction (NPI) agent offering an ultra-rich range of semiconductors and electronic components™, solemnly announces the 50th anniversary milestone of Mr. Glenn Smith, Global President and CEO of Mouser Electronics , half a century of hard work has led Mouser to develop by leaps and bounds, and will join hands with everyone to meet the next new challenge.

In 1973, as a junior in college, Smith found a part-time warehouse job at a start-up electronics company in San Diego. Little did he know that this would be the starting point for his association with Mouser. Initially, the company had only 12 employees. After 50 years of ups and downs, Smith has turned this small company into one of the top ten components agent giants in the world, with 27 offices around the world and more than 65 customers. It provides services to 10,000 customers and represents the products of more than 1,200 manufacturer partners. The company's global headquarters and distribution center in Mansfield, Texas, has become a central hub for Mouser.

Smith attributed all of this to the hard work of countless people. He said: "Looking back on this journey, without the professionalism, dedication and service spirit of the entire team, we would not be where we are today. It must be acknowledged. Yes, everyone is important to the company, and together they promote the company’s vigorous development, and we will continue to work together to create a better future for Mouser.”

Shortly after joining Mouser, Smith demonstrated his vision and leadership skills, and was quickly promoted from the warehouse to management positions in various departments, including technical sales, marketing, purchasing, operations and information technology. In 1985, Smith was promoted to senior vice president and general manager, responsible for the company's overall day-to-day operations.

In 1986, under Smith's strong promotion, the company moved to Mansfield, Texas, and was located near DFW International Airport, which greatly improved the company's business capabilities. Two years later, Smith was named president. In 2000, Mouser was acquired by Fort Worth-based TTI Corporation, after which Smith was named global president and CEO of Mouser in 2004. In 2007, Mouser and TTI were acquired by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway, Inc., and Smith remained on.

Over the years, Mouser Electronics and Smith have received many industry and local awards. In 2012, Mouser received the Tarrant County Employer of Excellence Award in recognition of its significant contributions to the economic prosperity and community development of the North Texas region. Since then, Mouser has won the 2014 Large Business Award and the 2021 Best Place to Work Award. For his investment and contribution to the electronic components industry, Smith received the 2011 Outstanding Service Award from the Electronic Components Industry Association and became a member of the association's board of directors. In 2019, Smith was named Best CEO by Fort Worth Business Media.
