According to the Wall Street Journal, the $26 billion merger agreement between the two major US operators, T-Mobile and Sprint, may not pass the review of the US Department of Justice.

People familiar with the matter said Justice Department staff had informed the two companies of the decision, but Reuters said the department had not made a final decision.

In February, T-Mobile CEO John Legere said the acquisition would create more jobs and reduce costs.

However, opponents point out that this will lead to unemployment, reduced market competition and higher costs for consumers.
