Shanghai, China - Bosch continues to be optimistic about its development prospects in China and is determined to invest in China . Dr. Stefan Hartung, Chairman of the Board of Management of Bosch Group, said: "China is an important market for Bosch and a key position for technological innovation. We will continue to be committed to investing in China and driving local development with technological innovation."
The opening of the new plant will enhance the local production capacity of key components for new energy vehicles to meet the growing market demand
On October 16, 2024, the third phase of the Taicang branch of Bosch's joint venture United Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "United Electronics") officially opened, which will further expand the production capacity of electric bridges and motors in China. Next year, the second-generation electric bridge will be put into mass production here. The second-generation electric bridge will be upgraded in many aspects such as efficiency, power density, user experience and functional integration.
On October 17, 2024, Bosch's new energy vehicle core components and autonomous driving R&D and manufacturing base in Suzhou was officially completed and put into use. The new base is located in Suzhou Industrial Park, with a total area of about 300,000 square meters, and will focus on the research and development and manufacturing of core components for new energy vehicles. The base was laid in March last year, and plans to invest a total of about RMB 7 billion in the next few years, and will officially start mass production in the second half of 2024.
Deepen layout and accelerate transformation of China's commercial vehicles
In order to seize the opportunities of technological and industrial transformation, Bosch reorganized its commercial vehicle and off-road businesses, and the new business structure will be officially operational in January 2025. For the Chinese market, Bosch is committed to providing knowledge-based full-stack technology solutions for commercial vehicles, covering diversified power, intelligent chassis, commercial vehicle assisted driving and other fields. On October 16, 2024, Bosch signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Wuxi High-tech Zone to further deepen the development of commercial vehicle business in Wuxi and jointly build the Future Commercial Vehicle Innovation Park. As the China headquarters of Bosch's commercial vehicle business, its functions will cover R&D, product testing, sales, etc.
"The global automotive industry is accelerating its transformation to electrification. China has shown strong development momentum in technological innovation and industrial chain. Bosch hopes to actively seize opportunities, adhere to technological innovation and sustainable development, and provide the Chinese market with future-oriented smart and green travel solutions." said Dr. Markus Hein, member of the Bosch Group Board of Management and Chairman of Bosch Smart Mobility Group.
Enhance local software and R&D capabilities, and drive business growth through innovation
Currently, Bosch operates 34 production bases and 26 technology centers in China, with more than 10,000 R&D personnel. With rapid technological changes and industrial transformation, Bosch continues to improve its local software and R&D capabilities in the Chinese market, and insists on driving business development with innovation. The BSH Home Appliances China R&D Center in Nanjing was upgraded to a global R&D center in June this year. This upgrade will better help BSH China become the global innovation engine of BSH Home Appliances Group. In addition, the Bosch Comfort Technology Global Conventional Wall-mounted Boiler R&D Center in Shanghai and the Bosch Power Tools R&D Center in Hangzhou have been continuously invested and upgraded, and both have the ability to independently develop world-leading products. Many of their products serve the domestic and foreign markets. The Bosch China Innovation and Software Development Center in Wuxi has more than 1,000 software personnel since its establishment four years ago. The center will be built into a software development innovation platform, talent gathering place and capability center serving smart transportation, smart manufacturing and smart home.
