[Munich, Germany, March 2, 2022] Following the successful launch of BTN89xx, Infineon Technologies AG has once again launched the new MOTIX™ BTN99xx (NovalithIC™+) series of intelligent half-bridge driver integrated chips. The chip integrates a P-channel high-side MOSFET and an N-channel low-side MOSFET, as well as multiple intelligent driver ICs in a single package. BTN99xx will be an ideal choice for automotive applications due to its ease of use, good protection functions and scalability. In addition, since BTN99xx integrates a variety of different functions in a single rugged package, it is particularly suitable for applications that require strict control of PCB area. It is worth mentioning that it also has high reliability and is very suitable for applications such as seat control, electric tailgates and sliding doors, and fuel pumps.

Andreas Doll, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Automotive Body Power Devices business unit at Infineon Technologies, said: "The MOTIX BTN89xx (NovalithIC+) has been a great success since its launch, with both high visibility and good reputation. Since 2015, we have shipped more than 500 million MOTIX BTN89xx chips to automotive customers around the world. Our new BTN99xx series chips are packaged in a small HSOF-7 package, which can save 60% board space compared to the previous generation."

The new device is integrated into a rugged package using Infineon's advanced die-by-die and stacking processes. Thanks to Infineon's latest MOSFET technology and innovative chip thinning processes, the BTN99xx's normal path resistance can be significantly reduced by 47% to 5.30 mΩ at 25°C, while its current limit can be increased to 75 A. As a result, the BTN99xx is a unique, cost-effective solution on the market for miniaturized, high-current PWM (pulse width modulation) motor drives.

The MOTIX BTN99xx further improves and enhances Infineon's current MOTIX motor control IC portfolio. The portfolio lies between discrete gate drivers and highly integrated embedded power motor control products based on Arm® processors. The BTN99xx series chips include two models, BTN9970LV and BTN9990LV, both of which are packaged in 7 x 8 mm² HSOF-7.

Availability

BTN9970LV is now in production, and BTN9990LV will be available from February 2022.
