Advanced Energy's 48V open rack power supplies save energy and ensure interoperability and greater system stability for data centers
2U power supply with hot-swappable function and AC redundant design with built-in automatic transfer switch (ATS), can output up to 36kW power with 97% efficiency
Beijing, China - Media OutReach - November 4, 2021 - Advanced Energy (Nasdaq: AEIS) has been committed to developing various advanced solutions such as high-precision power conversion, measurement and control systems, and its technology in this area has always been leading the world. The company announced the launch of a high-density, high-efficiency 48V, 36kW double-ended feed open rack power supply, which is suitable for hyperscale computing equipment and enterprise-level data centers, ensuring that the computing systems and storage devices therein are more stable and reliable during operation.
Advanced Energy's new Artesyn 2U rack power supplies not only offer 97% energy efficiency, but also come with a hot-swappable controller and support for up to 12 48V, 3kW open rack rectifiers. These rectifiers have built-in embedded automatic transfer switches (ATS) that automatically switch input to another AC source whenever a power loss is detected on the main AC source, without interrupting the output voltage during the switchover.
“Data center operators are continually working to reduce power consumption and operating costs to meet the increasing power consumption of new generation high-performance processors. These are two major challenges they face,” said Harry Soin, senior director of hyperscale data center technology marketing at Advanced Energy. “Old rack power supplies use a 12V architecture, while the new generation uses a 48V architecture. This development has reduced conduction losses to only 1/16 of the previous level, and open system specifications ensure that products from different manufacturers can operate interoperably and reduce overall system costs. Advanced Energy’s open rack power supplies and rectifiers meet these requirements, and the addition of an automatic transfer switch (ATS) maximizes uptime.”
Advanced Energy's ORv3-compliant 36kW rack power supply is compatible with star, delta and single-phase input configurations and features a hot-swappable, DMTF Redfish®-compliant rack controller for easy and secure implementation of safety monitoring and control functions over Ethernet. The rack power supply's built-in 48V, 3kW rectifier is essentially a high-line single-phase AC-DC power supply that converts input voltages between 200V (ac) and 277V (ac) to a 48V output. The output voltage is limited to a narrow frequency band to avoid overly large designs and allows the AC-DC power supply to perform 4:1 DC/DC conversion to power downstream 12V loads.
This rack power supply and related rectifier fully comply with EN61000-4-5 and EN55035 standards for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and also meet the product safety standards of IEC/UL/EN62368.
