350 km/h! China's high-speed rail speed increase is officially confirmed, returning to the world's first
Although the specific time for the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway to return to 350 km/h has only just been determined, this has long been a foregone conclusion.
Before the July 23 Ningbo-Wenzhou train accident, the Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway, Wuhan-Guangzhou High-speed Railway, Zhengzhou-Xi'an High-speed Railway, and Shanghai-Hangzhou High-speed Railway had been operating at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. After the accident, for safety reasons, trains operating on domestic railways generally slowed down. Although my country's high-speed railways are currently operating at a speed of 300 kilometers per hour or less, in fact, about 1/3 of the high-speed railway lines were designed and built for a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It is only a matter of time before we return to 350 kilometers per hour.
In July this year, the Fuxing bullet train carried out actual vehicle, actual weight and actual speed inspection and testing, feasibility study and operational safety assessment at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour on the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway. Through comprehensive and systematic scientific demonstration and comprehensive evaluation, it was shown that the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway fully meets the requirements for operation at the designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour.
It is reported that starting from September 21, the railway department will arrange 7 pairs of Fuxing EMUs to run at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour on the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway, serving as G1/G2, G3/G4, G5/G6, G7/G8, G9/G10, G13/G14, and G17/G18. The full running time between Beijing and Shanghai will be shortened from 5 hours to about 4.5 hours.
China Railway Corporation recently carried out the second batch of purchases of Fuxing China Standard EMUs (China Standard EMUs), totaling 104 trains, with a total price of about 17.8 billion yuan, an average of 171 million yuan per train. Together with the previous first batch, the total number of trains has reached 154.
As for when other high-speed rail lines will be upgraded to 350 kilometers per hour, there is no definite arrangement. However, a relevant person in charge of China Railway Corporation said in an interview with the media that the high-speed rail product with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour is only the highest-level product in China's high-speed rail development, and is one of the high-speed rail series products, and does not represent all. In underdeveloped areas, people are more sensitive to ticket prices and less sensitive to time, so high-speed rail will focus on products with a speed of 250 kilometers per hour; in developed areas, there is a large flow of passengers, and they are more willing to exchange higher ticket prices for time, so high-speed rail will focus on providing products with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour.
In the future, China will develop a series of high-speed rail products covering speeds of 200 to 350 kilometers per hour, providing consumers with more choices and convenience.
