Introduction to the advantages of micro-capacity MLCF





At present, the mainstream ceramic capacitor in the market is MLCC, whose multi-layer internal electrodes are connected by two external terminal electrodes to form multiple capacitors in parallel. In circuits, capacitors play roles such as decoupling and filtering, and are indispensable basic components in electronic products.
The MLCF product of Micro Capacitor Technology has four outer terminal electrodes in its outer structure, which can greatly shorten the circulation path in the inner electrode of the circuit, and has the effect of parallel ESL. Microcapacitance MLCF impedance frequency characteristics


The figure below shows the idealized impedance frequency curve of MLCC. As the frequency increases, the impedance becomes lower and lower.


However, MLCC has parasitic parameters. Due to the existence of equivalent series resistance (ESR) and equivalent series inductance (ESL), the impedance frequency characteristics of the entire MLCC have undergone tremendous changes.




In the actual circuit, in the low frequency band, the capacitance in the MLCC plays a leading role, and the impedance decreases as the frequency increases; in the high frequency band, the inductance plays a leading role, and the impedance increases as the frequency increases, so the lower the ESL value, the lower the overall MLCC The impedance is lower.


Case:
Comparison of the resonant frequency points and ESL of MLCF and conventional MLCC. Choose 0402's 4.7uf MLCC and 4.3uf MLCF. Both are commonly used models and have similar capacitance values. As can be seen from the graph, the resonant frequency point (SRF) of MLCC is around 5Mhz, while the resonant frequency point (SRF) of MLCF is higher, at 10Mhz.
MLCF has lower ESL at high frequencies, lower impedance, and better filtering effect.
