Vishay Releases Remote Control Window Sizing Tool for IR Receivers/Transceivers and Light Sensors
Recently, Vishay announced that the Optoelectronics Products Division has released a new online tool to speed up the time-consuming calculation work of home entertainment system design engineers. All products that use remote control functions require a window with precise dimensions to ensure that the infrared signal emitted by the remote control can be received.
Now,
Vishay Optoelectronics releases new remote control window sizing tool
Just input the distance from the photoelectric element to the outside window.
The optimal window size can be automatically calculated.
It solves the tedious task of calculating window size.
IR receivers, IR transceivers, and light sensors all require a window or opening in the glass cover to function in a remote control. Currently, calculating the size of these windows means looking up formulas in application notes and using a calculator with geometric functions such as tangent. Our new calculation tool will be a real time saver for designers, allowing them to easily complete their designs with just a few clicks of the mouse.”

When using the remote control window size calculation tool, designers simply select the model from the list of infrared receivers/transceivers and light sensors, enter the distance from the component to the window, and then click "Calculate". The optimal window length and width will be displayed immediately. In addition, this online calculator can quickly access data sheets, application notes and other information for the selected component.
