Vishay Technologies Announced the launch of a new automotive-grade bidirectional single-channel ESD protection diode in a small package DFN1006-2B with side pads for easy soldering. The space-saving VETH100A1DD1 is specifically designed for automotive Ethernet and complies with the OPEN Alliance 100Base-T1 and 1000Base-T1 specifications. It has low clamping voltage, dynamic resistance and capacitance to protect high-speed data lines from transient voltage signals.

The device released today has a smaller footprint and height than other standard packaged devices, and uses snap-back technology with a trigger voltage of > 100 V, resulting in an extremely low clamping voltage of only 31 V at 1 A. The protection diode has a typical dynamic resistance as low as 0.4 Ω , which improves ESD pulse absorption performance and protection capabilities, and its maximum capacitance is only 2 pF , which helps improve signal integrity.

The VETH100A1DD1 protects data lines against transients to ± 15 kV (1000 x contact discharge) as specified in ISO 10605 and IEC 61000‑4‑2. For automotive applications, the protection diode is available in an AEC-Q101 qualified version with an operating voltage of ± 24 V. Device end applications include industrial automation systems, computers, consumer entertainment equipment, home appliances, fixed communications infrastructure, and medical instrumentation .

The protection diodes have a moisture sensitivity level (MSL) of J-STD-020 standard 1 and a fire resistance level of UL 94 V-0. The devices are RoHS-compliant and Vishay Green-compliant , halogen-free, and support automated optical inspection ( AOI ) for automotive systems.
