Vishay Intertechnology has introduced two new 1008 package power inductors with dimensions of 2.5 mm x 2.0 mm x 1.2 mm. The commercial version IHLL-1008AB-1Z and the automotive grade IHLP-1008ABEZ-5A power inductors have the same performance as the larger IHLP ^® inductors, occupying only 55% of the area, operating at a temperature of up to +165 ° C, with a wide inductance range and low DC internal resistance (DCR).

IHLL-1008AB-1Z has only bottom-plated terminals, which can reduce substrate layout and achieve compact board spacing, with typical inductance values of 0.33 µH to 4.7 µH . IHLP-1008ABEZ-5A uses bottom and side-plated terminals to increase solder joint fixing strength, improve mechanical vibration resistance, and simplify solder joint inspection. The device is AEC-Q200 certified and can operate continuously and stably at +165 ° C, with an operating temperature 10 ° C higher than the closest competitive device , and a typical DCR as low as 12.0 mΩ , a 15% reduction .

The performance of both devices is superior to ferrite technology, with a solid iron powder core that fully seals the winding, eliminates air gaps, and magnetically shields crosstalk from adjacent devices, while its soft saturation curve remains stable over the entire operating temperature and rated current range. The flat coil of the inductor supports low DCR and high current handling, and the coil can be bent directly to form the inductor terminal without the need for a lead frame. Precision laser stripping, combined with the lead plating process, ensures easy solderability and can withstand repeated thermal cycles for maximum reliability .

The recently released Vishay Dale devices are suitable for DC/DC converters, noise suppression, and filtering in a variety of applications. The IHLP-1008ABEZ-5A is ideal for in-vehicle infotainment, navigation, and braking systems; ADAS, LiDAR, and sensors; and engine control units. The IHLL-1008AB-1Z is suitable for CPUs, SSD modules, and data networking and storage systems; industrial and home automation systems; TVs, speakers, audio, and gaming consoles; battery-powered consumer healthcare devices; medical devices; communications equipment, and precision instruments .

The IHLL-1008AB-1Z and IHLP-1008ABEZ-5A feature 100% lead (Pb)-free shielded composite construction, extremely low noise, high resistance to thermal shock, moisture and mechanical vibration, and can handle high transient current spikes without saturation. The devices are RoHS compliant and Vishay Green compliant and halogen-free.
