Three days left!

A hot live broadcast is about to begin at 19:30 on May 7 (Thursday).

The reason why it is highly anticipated is that the speaker is Zhou Qun, a special-grade Chinese teacher in Beijing with 29 years of teaching experience.

The theme of her live broadcast this time is: How to cultivate children's thinking ability through cross-field reading.

Children don't like reading, the quality of their reading is not high, their reading is biased towards one aspect, they have nothing to write about, their reading is not thorough enough, etc. These are problems that parents often encounter.

What should I do?

In response to this, Mr. Zhou Qun replied:

First of all, the vision and perspective of us parents and teachers determine the world of our children, and we should be good guides and enlighteners for our children.

Secondly, cross-field reading is a very good way to stimulate children's interest, deep thinking, sharpen their thinking, and cultivate children to become lifelong learners.

In this live broadcast, Teacher Zhou Qun will discuss this issue in an easy-to-understand manner and share his own insights.

Children aged 7-15 and their parents, don’t miss this event~

Because the children and parents who have listened to Teacher Zhou Qun’s lectures have given consistent and extremely high praise.

I believe that everyone can get more inspiration this time~

Below is a brief introduction to Teacher Zhou Qun.

Teacher Zhou Qun teaches at Beijing Jingshan School. She is very active in the field of interdisciplinary learning, a long-term practitioner of the "big language view" , and one of the top ten reading promoters in China in 2019.

Over the years, she has been thinking about what kind of education should be provided to students and what is the essence of the Chinese language subject, and has continuously iterated her educational ideas in educational reform practice.

She believes that Chinese teaching should neither ignore the cultivation of basic Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing skills and comprehensive Chinese literacy, and one-sidedly pursue the humanity of Chinese teaching; nor should it simply pursue the improvement of basic Chinese skills and Chinese literacy, while ignoring the cultivation of " correct world outlook, outlook on life and values, and the formation of good personality and sound character ."

In recent years, with the development of the times, new disciplines have emerged continuously, such as social biology, behavioral economics, big history, evolutionary psychology, and cognitive science. The boundaries of disciplines have been broken. Many practical problems brought about by globalization have gone beyond the scope of explanation of a single discipline. Teacher Zhou Qun keenly noticed that our reading of Chinese language subjects in primary and secondary schools has the drawback of paying too much attention to literary works and ignoring works in other fields.

What is the knowledge that is truly worth learning, what kind of future will our children face, and how to connect literature, history, philosophy, and art. She hopes to start with the language subject, connect textbooks with the world, broaden students' cognitive boundaries, and cultivate the key abilities and qualities that students need to survive and develop in this era and the future.

In the classroom of Jingshan School, she made many attempts, promoting project-based learning, trying popular science and science fiction education, and offering creative reading and writing exercises.

In class, we started the project-based learning of "seeing words as seeing faces" to make the reading of "Fu Lei's Family Letters" more extensive and profound. We did 6 things with the students: read the original work, watch the documentary "Fu Lei's Life", select 15 famous family letters, organize students to discuss by topic, write reading reports, each person writes a family letter and recites it by themselves, and hold a sharing session

Using hot topics, we can improve students' media literacy , help them understand the value of news, and learn to speak out in public . We can also open steam classes to guide students to solve real problems and pay attention to society and the wider world.

These "growth-oriented classrooms" are permeated with Teacher Zhou Qun's philosophy: reading and learning should be oriented towards the future. We should not only pay attention to the growth of children, but also care about the formation of their thoughts .
