Micron 5400 SATA SSD | Advanced storage solutions for critical infrastructure
Follow Micron to get the latest news
Micron's 5400 SATA SSD was officially released recently, which means that we have successfully introduced Micron's cutting-edge 176-layer NAND technology to the data center SATA platform. Although the technology circle often focuses on new technologies, new protocols and new architectures, it is well known that the current SATA platform still invests heavily in key infrastructure. Although they also want to apply the latest technology, they are not yet ready for updates and iterations.
The SATA platform is a technology that:
It has been deployed in data centers for many years as a storage workhorse, responsible for running and delivering critical workloads and services, including business intelligence, noSQL, block/object storage, and even boot services. Micron is always committed to providing all customers with the latest NAND excellence technology. Therefore, we launched the new 5400 SATA SSD for data centers.
With the 5400 SSD, Micron brings the world’s leading 176-layer NAND technology to data center SATA SSDs1 . This advanced technology optimizes performance, improves the customer experience, meets typical network bandwidth requirements, and delivers best-in-class mixed write performance2 while maintaining the embedded foundation of the SATA platform . In addition, we have the industry ’s broadest portfolio3 to meet different form factors.
The 5400 SSD is the latest in Micron’s 11th generation of SATA SSDs for data centers. The proven, stable architecture has been used for many years and is trusted by major server OEMs 5 to support critical infrastructure around the world.
Micron has shipped millions of 5000 Series 6 SSDs since 2017 , and the 5400 SSD can easily replace or upgrade existing SSD products and mechanical hard disk drives (HDDs) with a maximum capacity of up to 8TB 7. This has the benefit of accelerating the customer qualification process of the 5400 SSD while improving the performance and life of the SATA platform.
In addition, the Micron 5400 SSD is renowned for
being 50 percent more reliable than other leading SATA SSD products on the market
8
.
This means longer life and fewer failures, all backed by an industry-leading 5-year warranty. The Micron 5400
SATA SSD is a high-performance, low-cost technology ideal for boot service and an ideal replacement for mechanical hard drives. It can also coexist with NVMe SSD environments, providing overall platform quality of service and excellent total cost of ownership.
With Micron's newly launched 5400 SATA SSD, data center operators can continue to deploy SATA platforms using high-security, low-power SSDs. The proven SATA interface based on the latest NAND technology can extend server life or refresh platform deployments.
