At CES 2021, hosted by the Consumer Technology Association today, AMD showcased technology innovations that are improving the way consumers live, work and play. In her keynote, AMD President and CEO Dr. Lisa Su reiterated the importance of high-performance computing to people's daily lives and how the acceleration of digital transformation in life and work can help create a better future. To achieve this future, Dr. Su announced a new family of high-performance mobile processors for laptops and previewed the upcoming next-generation server processors for data centers.

Many partners appeared during Dr. Su's keynote speech, including HP CEO Enrique Lores, Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing, Lucasfilm Technology Vice President François Chardavoine, Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team driver Lewis Hamilton and team leader and CEO Toto Wolff, Microsoft Chief Product Officer Panos Panay, etc. Each guest shared how to work with AMD to provide exciting products, services and experiences for people around the world. For example, Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton talked about the role of high-performance computing in racing, from the design and testing of the car to the analysis of race data, helping the team gain a competitive advantage.

New product innovation
At CES 2021, AMD, as always, showcased its ambitious product roadmap. Dr. Lisa Su announced the new AMD Ryzen 5000 series mobile processors with industry-leading performance and efficient "Zen 3" cores, and publicly demonstrated for the first time the upcoming third-generation AMD EPYC server processors for data centers, cloud services, and high-performance computing.
AMD Ryzen 5000 Series Mobile Processors – Powerful and Energy-Efficient PC Processors for Ultrathin and Gaming Laptops
To support the change to working from home and remote learning, AMD has launched the new AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors based on the "Zen 3" core architecture, combining industry-leading performance with the high energy efficiency required for the next generation of mobile PC computing.
- The world's top notebook OEM manufacturers such as ASUS, HP and Lenovo will launch laptops equipped with Ryzen 5000 series mobile processors starting in February, and more than 150 models are expected to be launched this year.
- The newly announced AMD processor series includes the AMD Ryzen 5000 U-Series processors optimized for thin and light notebooks, and the AMD Ryzen 5000 H-Series processors for mobile gamers and content creators.
- HP CEO Enrique Lores and Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing discussed how their companies’ collaboration with AMD is shaping the future of computing experiences in new ways.
- Panos Panay, Microsoft Chief Product Officer, discussed the core nature of the PC for communication, work, learning and gaming, and how the joint research and development between AMD and Microsoft is revolutionizing the computing experience.
The third generation AMD EPYC processor , codenamed "Milan", is designed to continue AMD's leadership in performance, total cost of ownership, and security features .
AMD EPYC processors are at the heart of supercomputers, data centers, and cloud services, powering scientific research, global commerce, e-commerce, and increasingly important cloud services such as online learning, collaborative applications, and video conferencing. Dr. Lisa Su publicly unveiled the 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processor, codenamed “Milan,” for the first time during her keynote. The live demonstration processed data for weather forecasts for the continental United States based on the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model used in more than 160 countries and regions. The 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processor will further enhance AMD’s renowned performance, advanced security features, and business value. AMD plans to announce product and ecosystem details in the first quarter of 2021.
