Recently, Intel officially released its climate transformation action plan, detailing Intel's path to reducing its carbon footprint. Released at the same time as this plan, there is also a letter from Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger, which details the report and outlines Intel's commitment to promoting sustainable business practices.

The world is expanding rapidly, and computing power has become the foundation for greater opportunities and a better future for everyone on the planet. It has the ability to make all industries more sustainable and provide new solutions to combat climate change. We are all harnessing the magic power of silicon to power our economy, and these tiny chips are critical to sustaining and empowering our modern lives. As we continue to discuss the exponential growth brought about by Moore's Law, it is also important to recognize the importance of sustainability.

At Intel, we're committed to delivering chips that power the world while minimizing our environmental footprint. In 2022, I am proud to announce Intel's goal to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across our global operations by 2040. This year, we are taking this goal one step further and committing to achieving net-zero upstream greenhouse gas emissions across our entire value chain by 2050.

Intel's Climate Transformation Action Plan lays out a road map to achieve these critical goals and further demonstrates Intel's determination to embed sustainability into every aspect of its business, maintain resiliency across its operations and value chain, and continue to foster innovation. Our research team is looking ahead to the next decade and beyond and is already using greener chemicals, improving equipment design and facility systems, and delivering more energy-efficient products.

Reducing greenhouse gas emissions is one of the most complex challenges facing the industry. As a global leader in the semiconductor industry and computing innovation, Intel is working with partners across a wide range of industries to achieve sustainable computing. We are a founding member of the Semiconductor Research Alliance and a sponsor of the Catalyst project to drive renewable electricity in the semiconductor supply chain, demonstrating our commitment to moving towards a sustainable future.

We are proud to lead the semiconductor industry in sustainable manufacturing and energy efficiency innovation, but we do not underestimate the challenges ahead. Intel is driven by our purpose - to create world-changing technologies that benefit everyone on the planet, including leaving a better world for generations to come.
