ASML releases Q1 2021 financial report: net sales reach 4.4 billion euros

Dutch lithography machine manufacturer ASML released its first-quarter 2021 financial report on April 21.

Data showed that net sales in the first quarter reached 4.4 billion euros (about 34.4 billion yuan), gross profit margin was 53.9%, net profit reached 1.3 billion euros (about 10.2 billion yuan), and new orders amounted to 4.7 billion euros (about 36.7 billion yuan).

"Our first-quarter sales and gross margin exceeded expectations, benefiting from the growth in cumulative installed base management sales," said Peter Winn, President and CEO of ASML. Winn noted that demand in all market segments and product portfolios has increased significantly compared to three months ago, and revenue is expected to grow by 30% in 2021.

ASML is Europe's largest industrial technology company, with a market value of about $250 billion. It supplies machinery to chipmakers including Intel, Samsung Electronics and TSMC.

There has been a global chip shortage recently. In February this year, ASML Executive Vice President Ron Kuhl said: "I think everywhere... our customers' needs, there are pressures everywhere. If I look ahead to this year, I would be happy to have more production capacity."

ASML officially expects net sales in the second quarter of 2021 to be between 4 billion euros and 4.1 billion euros (approximately RMB 31.3 billion to 32.1 billion), with a gross profit margin of approximately 49%.
