Final Ruling on Innoscience
On November 8, EPC announced that the full U.S. International Trade Commission ( ITC ) upheld its preliminary ruling that Innoscience had infringed EPC’s core gallium nitride technology patents. The ITC decided to prohibit Innoscience (Zhuhai) Technology Company Co., Ltd. and its subsidiaries (hereinafter referred to as Innoscience) from importing related gallium nitride products into the United States without EPC’s authorization.
On the same day, Innoscience issued an announcement stating that
the final decision of the
337
investigation
issued by
the ITC
on November
7
,
2024
confirmed that the legality of Innoscience's customers importing their products into the United States is not affected by the ongoing patent dispute between Innoscience and Efficient Power Conversion (
EPC
). It pointed out that according to US law, the limited exclusion order does not prohibit Innoscience's customers from importing terminal products using the accused chips into the US market. Therefore,
the EPC
lawsuit will not have an adverse impact on Innoscience's customers. In addition, Innoscience will continue to promote the resolution of the dispute with
EPC
through court appeal procedures and invalidation procedures of the US Patent and Trademark Office
, and is confident of achieving a final and complete victory.
Analog Devices acquires eFPGA company Flex Logix
Flex Logix is a reconfigurable computing company that provides leading eFPGA, DSP/SDR and AI reasoning solutions to semiconductor and system companies. Flex Logix eFPGA enables batch FPGA users to integrate FPGA into their supporting SoC, thereby reducing the cost and power consumption of FPGA by 5-10 times and increasing computing density, which is critical for communications, networks, data centers, microcontrollers, etc. According to Flex Logix's official website, Flex Logix has sold its technology assets to a large listed company, which has also hired our technical team.
According to EETIMES, the unnamed buyer is ADI. ADI spokesperson told EE Times: "By acquiring Flex Logix, ADI can significantly enhance our digital product portfolio and further support us in helping customers solve their most challenging problems." The company declined to disclose the terms of the transaction or any further details.
Biden may rush to allocate funds to TSMC before the change of government
Last week, it was reported that chip manufacturers that received subsidies from the US "CHIP Act" are increasingly worried that Trump
will terminate the relevant subsidies after taking office in January next year.
The
Biden administration is speeding up its actions and hopes to allocate the
"
CHIP Act
"
subsidy funds
to TSMC and other companies as soon as possible
.
Previously, Trump criticized
the
"
chip bill
"
as a
"
bad plan
"
, and some related companies are worried that the bill may change after the new US government takes office. If the news is true, it means that TSMC may get relevant subsidies before Trump takes office as US President in January next
year
