Exploring smart mobility, a delegation from Bavaria, Germany, visited the ams-osram Foshan factory
Recently, Mr. Hubert Aiwanger, Deputy Governor and Minister of Economy, Development and Energy of Bavaria, Germany, led a delegation of nearly 40 people from the business, scientific and political circles to embark on a four-day trip to China. The visit focused on exploring the latest developments and cooperation opportunities in the field of smart travel. The delegation visited Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, three cities known for their innovative travel.
In the busy schedule, the delegation specially arranged to visit the Foshan factory of ams osram on the afternoon of October 24. This move not only shows the attention and support of the Bavarian government of Germany to ams osram, a world-leading optical solution provider, but also indicates the possibility of deepening cooperation between the two sides in the future.
As an industry leader, ams OSRAM has gathered rich lighting R&D experience and outstanding technological innovation capabilities at its base in Regensburg, Bavaria; this city has not only witnessed the company's vigorous growth, but also witnessed our glorious journey to achieve industry leadership.
According to public information, Bavaria is known as the "home of big companies" and is one of the most dynamic and economically powerful states in Germany. Its GDP in 2022 was approximately 716.8 billion euros, accounting for more than 18% of Germany's total GDP.
Mr. Aiwanger and his delegation were received by Adam Wu, Executive Vice President of OSRAM and General Manager of AMSP Division, and his team.
Mr. Aiwanger first introduced the delegation members to the ams-osram team. Adam Wu then briefed the delegation on the overall situation of the ams-osram Group, focusing on the company's lighting business in China and the transformation process of the Foshan factory.

Adam Wu said that ams OSRAM has a history of more than 110 years in design and manufacturing, focusing on continuous innovation in the fields of sensing, lighting and visualization, promoting the development of various important fields with key technologies, and maintaining a leading position in its core semiconductor and lighting markets.
The amsosram Foshan factory was established in 1995. In its nearly 30 years of development, relying on amsosram's advanced technological advantages, perfect quality management system and local resource advantages, it has continuously explored and transformed, and has developed from a traditional automotive lighting company to an enterprise that currently develops traditional and LED automotive lighting and special lighting in parallel.
Adam Wu emphasized that the Foshan factory has extremely competitive traditional halogen lamp products. Since its establishment, it has always followed Germany's high standards and strict requirements, and has been striving for excellence in every link from raw materials to production processes to ensure the high quality of each finished product . At the same time, it benefits from local resource advantages in management and cost, enabling it to maintain a solid leading position in the fierce market competition.
In order to adapt to the development of the market, the Foshan factory of ams-osram started the transformation and upgrading in 2019: it set up the LED car light R&D center and test laboratory center, and gradually established and expanded the LED car light production line. The Foshan factory ushered in a period of rapid development. Looking to the future, ams-osram will continue to increase investment, upgrade the production line generation, and build a more advanced LED car light production base.
The ams OSRAM Foshan factory carefully arranged a tour for the delegation from the traditional halogen headlight production line to the modern LED headlight production line. This tour vividly demonstrated the factory's transformation from traditional lighting to modern LED lighting solutions, highlighting ams OSRAM's persistent pursuit of technological innovation and industrial upgrading, and also proved the importance of Chinese factories in the group's global layout. From sophisticated automated production equipment to highly integrated digital intelligent management systems, every link reflects the company's deep accumulation and technological foresight in the field of optoelectronic semiconductors.
The delegation was able to observe closely how the Foshan factory of ams-osram successfully transformed German technological achievements, applied the latest lighting technology, and maintained its market competitiveness through continuous innovation. This visit not only enhanced the delegation's understanding of ams-osram's advanced manufacturing processes, but also laid the foundation for future discussions between the two sides on joint research projects and technology transfer mechanisms, which is expected to promote deeper government-enterprise cooperation and jointly promote industry innovation and development.
Finally, the delegation members spoke highly of the professional level and service awareness of the ams-osram Foshan factory, expressed satisfaction with its careful preparation and rigorous attitude, and looked forward to more opportunities to deepen cooperation and exchanges in the future.
