The King of High-Density Data Centers: Amphenol 28-AWG CAT6a UTP Network Patch Cable
As technology advances rapidly, high-density data centers are becoming more common. On the other hand, as the number of connected devices increases day by day, it becomes increasingly important to build a reliable and effective network. And that's where Amphenol's new 28-AWG low-profile Slim UTP CAT6a cable comes in.
What is Slim UTP CAT6a cable?
UTP Slim CAT6a cable is a new member of Amphenol’s information and communication network cable series. Compared with standard CAT6a cables, this cable adopts a thinner and more flexible design, making it ideal for use in high-density data center environments. Its diameter is 33% smaller than standard cables, which means it takes up less space and ensures easy information transmission.
Why should you choose UTP unshielded cable instead of shielded cable (FTP)?
IT professionals consider smaller cable diameter to be the most important design consideration compared to other factors, so that's why they choose 28-AWG Thin CAT-6a cable instead of regular cable. When foil shielding is added, the cable diameter increases significantly, not only because the shielding material itself takes up space, but also because PVC jacketing material is added to accommodate the shielding material. To maintain the advantages of smaller diameter, 30-AWG cable would be the ideal design choice. However, the current TIA/EIA standards do not provide for 30-AWG wires for "thin" CAT-6a cables because 30-AWG wires cannot ensure the safety of Power over Ethernet (PoE). This makes UTP unshielded 28-AWG cable a valid choice for most installations.
More advanced cable routing options
As the number of devices in data centers increases, cable management has become a necessary consideration. Amphenol UTP Slim CAT6a cables are easy to route and route , allowing IT professionals to spend less time managing cables and more time on more important tasks.

Improve air flow
Data centers generate a lot of heat, and air movement is critical to preventing overheating. UTP Slim CAT6a cable can effectively reduce the space occupied, thereby improving air circulation and air flow during the equipment cycle. This helps improve the performance and reliability of data center equipment.
Certification standards
UTP Slim CAT6a cable meets the same critical 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GBASE-T) and PoE (Power over Ethernet) capabilities offered by its larger 24-AWG CAT6a counterpart. This cable fully complies with the recently released TIA/EIA 28-AWG CAT-6a cable standard. That is, the product meets quality and performance standards.
Rich color and length options
Amphenol UTP Slim CAT6a cables are available in a variety of colors and lengths to suit a variety of installation scenarios. Whether you need short cables to connect equipment in the same rack, or long cables to connect different components in the data center, Amphenol has a variety of solutions for you to choose from.
