To learn about power supplies for beginners, should I read a book or watch a video? [Copy link]

Power supply is an essential part of the circuit board. So, is it better to read a book or watch a video to get started with power supply? If it is a video, which video tutorial in the forum do you recommend?

Book learning: Reading introductory books on power supplies can provide systematic and comprehensive knowledge. Books usually explain the principles, design, and application of power supplies in depth, which can help readers build a solid foundation. In addition, books are more reliable and stable, and you can read them repeatedly to find the content you need. Video tutorials: Watching video tutorials for getting started with power supplies can make the learning process more intuitive and vivid. Videos can show actual circuit boards and components, as well as demonstrate the operation process. For some beginners, it is easier to understand and imitate the actual operation steps through videos.   Details Published on 2023-7-19 20:28

I support reading books.

When reading books or textbooks, most of them are completed chapter by chapter according to the theory, with comprehensive knowledge points and gradient levels. Although it is slow, it does take time to accumulate and lay a solid foundation.

Video is more suitable for understanding in the early stage, pointing out knowledge points in the middle stage, and supplementing in the later stage. Video is a point concept.

To sum up, my advice to beginners is to read books.

PS Due to my limited level, I won't recommend any books on power supplies here. Sorry~~

Read the book first and then look at the examples to understand the ideas behind the masters

The teacher will lead you to the door, and watching videos will only play such a role. Even if there are teachers teaching, the final focus is still on reading textbooks. For real knowledge, you still have to read books to learn.

Whether reading a book or watching a video, it is equivalent to self-study. It depends on whether you have the self-discipline to stick to it.
