LONDON (Reuters) - Netflix Inc said on Thursday it would reduce the bit rates of all its streaming services in Europe, effectively cutting traffic on its European network by 25%, in an effort to keep the internet running smoothly during the coronavirus crisis.

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings recently spoke with European Commissioner Alexis Sanchez to discuss how to keep the internet running smoothly as the coronavirus pandemic forces people to move more of their daily activities online.

As more cities turn to the internet to slow the spread of COVID-19, fast, stable connections are more valuable than ever.
