In September this year, Apple officially released the iPhone 14 series, which for the first time used two chips in one generation. Only the Pro version was upgraded with the A16 chip.

However, it should be noted that the A16 does not bring a major upgrade. It is built using a 4nm process instead of the rumored 3nm. There is no significant improvement in performance in all aspects, and it has been complained about and squeezed out toothpaste.

However, Apple may continue to squeeze toothpaste next year and continue to carry 4nm chips.

According to the latest news, Apple plans to use TSMC’s 3nm chip in the iPhone 16 series in 2024, which should be A18.

A report from Morgan Stanley said that TSMC plans to reduce its cutting-edge node production capacity from 80,000 wafers per month to 60,000 wafers, most of which will be used by Apple for 2024 iPhone chips.

However, Apple still will not equip the iPhone 16 series with the same chip as standard, and the standard version will continue to have a "dragon-slaying knife".

The lower-priced iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus may use first-generation 3nm process mass-produced SoCs, while the Pro series may jump to the second-generation process.

Thanks to this, the iPhone 16 Pro version not only has stronger performance, but also brings lower power consumption and longer battery life.
