iFixit has taken a look at the new Mac Studio, revealing the complex cooling mechanisms Apple uses for its high-performance systems. As it has done before with devices like the 16-inch MacBook Pro, iFixit has taken a preliminary look at Apple's latest device.
Soon, iFixit will eventually produce a text and illustrated guide showing exactly how to disassemble the Mac Studio for repairs, but for now, it's just a quick video overview showing the components inside.
It is reported that the cooling system occupies about half of the internal space of the Mac. The most eye-catching part is the aluminum heat sink on the M1 Max version and the copper heat sink module on the M1 Ultra version.
The disassembly revealed that the Mac Studio's SSD is not soldered to the motherboard and can be removed, which iFixit confirmed, but users cannot upgrade it themselves. iFixit pointed out that not only does it look like an iMac, but its disassembly method is also similar.
Finally, the Mac Studio received a repairability score of 6 out of 10.
