What is the difference between 6GB and 8GB of mobile phone RAM?
From an objective point of view, I think the salesperson is right. This is based on the same mobile phone. The so-called influencing factors, such as processor, flash memory read and write data, and system optimization, are naturally the same for the same model, unless it is the same mobile phone, the flash memory or memory specifications of the low-end version are very low. This situation existed before, and the manufacturer wanted us to choose the high-end version, but it is rarely seen now.
Take the Xiaomi 12 that I bought recently, for example. I chose 8G memory. It also has a version with 12G running memory. The difference between the two is actually the 12G running memory version, which will be smoother when running multiple programs. And 8G is of course enough, but it is just that if you are running multiple programs. Because their systems are all MIUI13, the processors are all Snapdragon 8, and they are all DDR5 and UFS3.1, so you have to consider the CPU of the mobile phone, memory read and write speed, and system optimization. This is completely unnecessary.
If you are talking about different mobile phones, I think you should consider these. To put it simply, the running memory of a mobile phone is the space it can provide when you run a program, so that a program can run. For example, when you start an APP, it does need to be associated with many internal files. If there is no running space, it cannot achieve the purpose of running. Of course, the running memory of the mobile phone is indeed more expensive, and the data reading speed is faster. So you see that the mobile phone memory of each mobile phone is upgraded to 128G each time, while the running memory is only 2G to accumulate slowly.
The mobile phone memory is used to store things we use in daily life, such as photos taken after being taken, some files, some movies and TV series cached in the APP, etc., and the APP itself does need to be decompressed after installation, so some of their small files are indeed stored in the mobile phone, occupying the mobile phone memory.
Generally, the memory versions of mobile phones are 6+128, which are thousand-yuan models. The former is the running memory, and the latter is the mobile phone memory. The mobile phone memory is related to your usage habits. For example, if you take photos frequently and use your mobile phone frequently, you can directly choose the large memory version. We can decide based on our own usage, and there is no particularly big controversy about this.
The most controversial issue is the running memory. It is indeed wrong to say that the running memory alone can determine the smoothness of a mobile phone.
Because the fluency of a mobile phone is generally determined by the system, performance and ecology, and the specific factors are the running memory and flash memory specifications.
1. Performance We should understand that is the processor. The processor determines the performance of a mobile phone, that is, how much power you have. The more powerful the processor, the greater your power is indeed, and the smoother it is, because the different levels of processors, the internal architecture and main frequency and the speed of processing tasks are also different.
For example, one phone has 6GB RAM, but its processor is a flagship, such as the Snapdragon 888 series. Another phone has 8GB RAM, and its processor is a Qualcomm 778G, which is a mid-range processor. Which one is smoother or stronger? In fact, it is still the former, because it has strong performance. RAM only determines how many programs a phone can run in the background, and it cannot improve its performance.
2. System optimization is also inseparable. The same processor, different optimizations, and different experiences. Just like why many mobile phones with the same processor are very cheap now, we will not choose them, because their system UI is not good, just like Lenovo's moto series, after all, we have not seen it in the domestic market for a long time.
3. Another thing is the ecosystem, which is a bit complicated to explain. I can only say that comparing Android and iOS, the iOS system has better ecosystem management, because iOS stipulates that all applications must follow their own rules, while there is no unified regulation on the Android side, so the applications are uneven, and they will also read a lot of our data, such as location, voice, etc. The final situation is that Android has 4G/6G running memory, but Apple only has 2G and it is still smooth. Of course, there is almost no such difference in Android phones.
