The latest report from Susquehanna Financial Group, a research organization, shows that the chip delivery time in November was extended by another four days compared with October, reaching 22.3 weeks, the longest delivery time since the organization began tracking data in 2017. This also means that the hope of alleviating the chip shortage has failed.
According to Bloomberg, the market had greater hope that the chip shortage would ease, as the October delivery data was only one day longer than September, but the latest November delivery data was a "frustration" for the industry. Prior to this, Apple, Ford and other manufacturers have said that the shortage has made it impossible to meet product demand.
Chris Rolland, an analyst at Susquehanna Financial Group, said that although the extension of chip delivery time in November was smaller than in most previous months, it was still a big gap compared to the original expectation of a significant rebound.
