In June this year, Shanghai Institute of Microelectronics Industry funded Shanghai University's 8-inch MEMS pilot line with a quarter of the total operating hours per year for teaching practice in the School of Microelectronics for a period of five years.

According to the latest report from Shangguan News, this summer, more than ten graduate students from the School of Microelectronics of Shanghai University have officially started their internship at the above-mentioned MEMS pilot line, learning integrated circuit manufacturing processes and participating in innovative projects under the guidance of their mentors.

It is reported that the 8-inch MEMS pilot line of ITRI was put into operation in September 2017. It is the first MEMS pilot line in China and an internationally leading one.

Public information shows that the School of Microelectronics of Shanghai University was established in November 2019. It was jointly built by Shanghai University, Shanghai Institute of Microelectronics, Shanghai Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jiading District Government, and innovative enterprises in the entire integrated circuit industry chain. It actively explores new mechanisms, gathers high-quality social resources, and builds Shanghai University's internationally leading integrated circuit Beyond Moore's Law talent training base. Its predecessor was the semiconductor device and physics major established in the Jiading campus in 1958. After 60 years of development, it has now formed the characteristics of undergraduate basic teaching and multidisciplinary training for postgraduates, as well as a research foundation for multidisciplinary integration and intersection.
