Application of fingerprint products in the automotive field [Copy link]

China's biometrics is represented by fingerprint recognition, and its commercial application began in the early 1990s. The theoretical research on the automatic fingerprint identification system (AFIS) began even earlier - some research institutions had already started this work in the late 1970s and early 1980s. In addition to fingerprint recognition, other biometric branch technologies, such as iris, palm shape, face image, voice, vein, etc., their commercial demonstration and application in China began in the late 1990s. At present, fingerprint recognition, one of the branches of biometrics, has entered a period of explosive growth in industrial development. Its tentacles have already involved many fields such as office attendance, security access control, information security, and bank identity recognition. The currently very popular fingerprint USB flash drives, fingerprint mobile phones, and fingerprint notebooks have pushed the application of fingerprint recognition technology to another climax.

It can be said that fingerprint recognition technology has left a deep imprint in most of the fields with rich market prospects. As one of the "five industrial carriages of China's economic development", the automobile industry is no exception. Since the first "fingerprint car driving recorder" in China was launched by Zhejiang Weier Technology Co., Ltd. at the "International (Zhejiang) Road Transport and Logistics Technology Expo" in 2004, driver training fingerprint management system, fingerprint car door locks, fingerprint car remote control locks, fingerprint garage door locks, fingerprint car gear locks, fingerprint car ignition control systems, etc. have been launched one after another. Just as Bill Gates predicted in 2003 that biometric technology will become an important innovative force in the IT industry from 2005 to 2008, biometric technology represented by fingerprint recognition technology will become a new favorite in the automotive field in the next few years.

The current status of fingerprint technology in the automotive field

Just as the application of fingerprint recognition technology first exploded in the security field with anti-theft as the main goal, the application of fingerprint recognition technology in the automotive field also first exploded in car anti-theft. Car fingerprint door locks, car fingerprint remote controls, garage fingerprint door locks, car fingerprint gear locks, and car fingerprint ignition control devices have been launched in a short period of two years, and have gradually become new highlights at major auto shows.

In the field of auto anti-theft, it is reported that the only models with fingerprint recognition technology among original new cars are Audi A8 (2005 new model), 2005 Mercedes-Benz E240, and Volkswagen Passat 6th generation.

It is precisely because of the slow response of these auto "big names" to fingerprint recognition technology that about 20 domestic auto parts manufacturers have a very broad space. At the 45th National Auto Warranty Inspection Equipment Spring Exhibition in 2006, the car fingerprint anti-theft locks exhibited by Beijing Jinanger and the fingerprint car fingerprint remote controls of Shenzhen Cheshen Electronics have received extensive attention from the media and auto manufacturers. On the basis of not affecting the original electronic anti-theft device, spending two or three thousand yuan to install a fingerprint recognition system with an identity recognition device on your car will become more and more popular among car owners today when car theft cases are increasing.

Garage fingerprint door locks and car trunk fingerprint door locks are currently mostly used in some super-luxury smart communities and high-end villas. Based on the fact that fingerprint locks and fingerprint access control are increasingly favored by real estate developers, the popularization and application of garage fingerprint door locks will show their prowess.

As for car fingerprint gear locks and car finger ignition control devices that require a larger "operation", most of the reports are currently some application solutions. Their products have been formed, but there is still a certain degree of difficulty in application promotion. However, for car lovers who like to modify, they are still quite attractive, and their application boom should appear in the next 1-2 years.

In addition to the highly anticipated field of car anti-theft, another surprising field is the field of car management. At present, since the implementation of the new "Automobile Driving Recorder" standard on September 1, 2003, Zhejiang Weller Technology Co., Ltd. has launched a series of automotive fingerprint management system products such as driver training fingerprint management system, unit official vehicle fingerprint management system, bus fingerprint management system, taxi fingerprint management system, public parking fingerprint management system, driver's license fingerprint management system, and highway toll fingerprint management system after launching the first fingerprint automotive driving recorder in China. According to industry insiders, Zhejiang Weller is one of the companies that best combines fingerprint recognition technology with automobile management in China. It is estimated that its representative product, fingerprint IC card driver training management system, has an average annual sales volume of more than 50,000 sets, accounting for about 15% of the total sales volume in the country, ranking first among nearly 80 product suppliers in the country (excluding companies that only provide fingerprint modules).

Of course, in terms of the overall application of fingerprint recognition technology in the automotive field, the application of automobile management in China is not very common at present, and it has not attracted enough attention.

Forecast of the application prospects of fingerprint technology in the automotive field

With the continuous adjustment of the global automotive industry structure, China has become the world's fourth largest automobile producer. The rising consumer market has also continuously increased the requirements for automobile safety, entertainment, convenience and other aspects, which undoubtedly breeds huge business opportunities for China's automotive electronics industry. According to the forecast of CCID Consulting Co., Ltd., the scale of China's automotive electronics market will reach 143.41 billion yuan by 2009.

According to the analysis of industry professionals, among the demands of the automotive electronics market, the demand for automobile security and anti-theft is the largest, accounting for about 40% of the total demand. As the most mature and widely used technology, fingerprint recognition security and anti-theft technology will play a huge role. It is estimated that by 2009, its market scale in automobile security and anti-theft should be around 40-50 billion yuan.

In terms of automobile management, although China has been consciously controlling the scale of government official vehicles and exploring new methods of official vehicle management since the 1990s, the results are not very obvious. Judging from the experience of foreign governments in the use and management of official vehicles, although the scale is huge, the management is quite strict. Therefore, from the demand perspective, official vehicles with strict and complete management methods and systems are not only an urgent need of the Chinese government, but also an urgent need of many large domestic companies and public transportation and logistics companies.

According to a report by China Economic Times in 2005, according to conservative statistics, there are currently 3.5 million official vehicles in China, and the annual expenditure on official vehicles is 300 billion yuan. A CPPCC member found that, compared with the transportation cost of 8,215.4 yuan per 10,000 kilometers for private cars, the transportation cost of each car in party and government agencies is as high as tens of thousands of yuan. The working efficiency of each taxi is 5 times that of a public car, while the transportation cost is only 13% of that of a public car. In official consumption, vehicle consumption accounts for about 90% of the administrative expenses of the unit and 38% of the total national fiscal expenditure. In the use of official cars, 1/3 is for public use, 1/3 is for cadres' private use, and 1/3 is for drivers' private use. If fingerprint recognition technology can be applied to the management of national official cars, every civil servant who uses the car will need to undergo a simple and convenient fingerprint identity authentication and record each time he uses the car. This can curb the abuse of vehicles by civil servants from both psychological and conscious aspects, and also facilitate the supervision and management of national supervisory agencies.

In the management of corporate official vehicles, although various enterprises have taken a series of management measures and achieved good management results, from the perspective of cost and benefit, if fingerprint recognition technology can be applied to the management of corporate official vehicles, fingerprint identification when boarding the vehicle and fingerprint confirmation when leaving the vehicle can be implemented, coupled with a high-tech and efficient corporate official vehicle fingerprint management system software, it will greatly reduce the management procedures of public vehicles, improve the efficiency of public vehicle management, and reduce the operating costs of public vehicles to the greatest extent possible. At present, the most urgent demand for corporate official vehicles (vehicles) should be buses, taxis, logistics companies, etc.

In summary, the application of fingerprint technology in the automotive field will be very broad. If the market price of automotive fingerprint anti-theft devices can be controlled at around 1,000 yuan, it will greatly promote the application of fingerprint technology in the field of automotive anti-theft. In terms of automobile fingerprint management, a market insider from Zhejiang Well Technology Co., Ltd. revealed: "Our technology and solutions are not inferior even in an international environment, but given China's national conditions, especially in the area of government official vehicles, many local governments are still waiting and watching because it is a focus of social attention. If we can get the active support of the government, it will not only save a lot of money for the country, but also push the government official vehicle management reform, which has been deadlocked, to a thorough level."
