At a press conference that ended early this morning, Apple announced that it will further expand its Apple Card credit card business, allowing spouses to share accounts, and family members over the age of 13 can also share an Apple Card.
Apple said that Apple Card will be available in the United States starting in May this year. The Apple Card Family service will allow family members and spouses to use the same Apple Card together, share and manage their respective credit limits, and also merge credit.
In addition to the ability to share with a spouse, Apple Card Family also allows parents to share Apple Card with children over the age of 13. Apple said at the launch event: "Apple Card can be shared with any user aged 13 or older so that they can learn how to spend independently and responsibly." Apple will use the iCloud Family Sharing feature to allow up to 5 people to share the Apple Card account.
According to Apple, Apple Card can be shared with any eligible customer 18 years of age or older, providing both parties with the opportunity to build a credit history together, provide transparency into each other's spending, share payment responsibility, and offer the convenience of paying bills each month.
It is understood that the new features of Apple Card will be launched in May, most likely through an iOS update.
