US company initiates 337 investigation application, two Chinese LED lighting companies involved

According to the China Trade Relief Information Network, the US company Wangs Alliance Corporation d/b/a WAC Lighting filed an application with the US International Trade Commission on March 9 local time in accordance with Section 337 of the US Tariff Act of 1930, claiming that certain LED landscape lighting devices and components thereof exported to, imported into and sold in the US infringed its patent rights.

(Jiangsu Sur Lighting Co., Ltd.) are named defendants.

It is reported that the 337 investigation refers to the practice of the U.S. International Trade Commission investigating unfair import practices and taking sanctions in accordance with Section 337 of the U.S. Tariff Act of 1930 (hereinafter referred to as the "337 clause"). If imported products infringe upon valid U.S. intellectual property rights, the intellectual property rights holder (whether it is a U.S. company or a foreign company) can file a 337 investigation application with the ITC and request the ITC to take relevant relief measures.
